Yesterday's Non-Day

Morning, everyone! I hope everyone had a better day than I did yesterday!

Eww, yucky AMPS. We'll work with it, though. I've got my phone and there are no children here to turn off my alarms (what happened yesterday), so I'll get a +4, +7, +10, PMPS, etc.

No matter how many times I've tried, I just can't push past ten (PM +3) unless there's no choice (i.e. waiting for Rufus' numbers to start rising again). The medication I'm on is sleep regulatory - not a sleep inducer. It gets me up and puts me down at about the same time every morning and every night. I have no natural, inborn circadian rhythm... which translates to: I had untreated chronic insomnia for the first nineteen years of my life. Bleh, I don't know why I'm explaining this... I guess I feel bad about not being able to stretch my days as long as I have to to get the tests I want.

Worse.... NO ~O) !

Never mind any of that - Have a good day, everyone.

Re: 9/20 Rufus AMPS 344

Rufus and Tray have the same icky amps, hope they both come down soon.
By 10pm I am dead tired and rarely push past it and I don't have a condition, just a sleepy head. So don't feel bad. I can't imagine what it must have been like to go 19 years with insomnia, I'm glad there's meds for you now.

Re: 9/20 Rufus AMPS 344, +4 354? Test again...

Rufus just tested 354 at his +4, but I just can't believe that number... unless this morning was a fur shot? I felt the syringe in his skin, and definitely didn't smell Lantus... I'm going to test again before I post this (no need to spam my own thread).

+4 (11:00am): 354
+10min: 335 :-|

We have some dry dog food, but I've been dow-- er... he must have gotten it when we were giving John-Finn his medicine. GAH! That will be over with soon.

Re: 9/20 Rufus AMPS 344, +4 354/335. Dog food. Careless.

That would explain the higher numbers if he did get into that dog food.....
Wait it out now..sigh...so sorry but at least you know what might have brought them on.....

Re: 9/20 Rufus AMPS 344, +4 354/335 +7 326

Ugh - pink is not Rufus' signature color. And I'm starting to rethink that dog food theory - I suppose it could just be emotional turmoil from John-Finn's arrival, but I would think that that would have shown up earlier.

Last night, he was reluctant to eat - that's understandable. He probably wanted to eat in privacy after having been shut away upstairs all day while other people hung around his house... but he was also reluctant to jump up onto the counter this morning to go to his dish, and just now I took a peek at said dish; there is way too much food left in that bowl for a cat that usually eats the whole 3 oz. in just as many minutes.

I wonder if he has a scratch from that tussle that we were unable to locate, and this is an infection. Oooh, we so do not need another vet trip right now, but he might. Going to call the Mother. :-|

Back from Vet - no fever, but decreased white blood cell count. We're going to do a course of Amoxicillin and check in again. Nasty PMPS of 444, but I wasn't expecting a blue number or anything. We're going to feed and shoot (.50 - he's not eating much) right now.

Yeah, she said it was sometimes indicative of a low-level virus, and wanted to put him on the amoxicillin to stave off any potential bacterial infections due to scratches or bites neither of us could see. Actually, I don't quite remember everything she said about the infections (we were going through his whole blood work in just a few minutes).

But, now that we're home (and I cracked out the fortiflora) Rufus is picking at his Chicken Feast. He's clearly feeling much better, taking a nap in Tess with a kitty smile on his face.
