Johnny's definitely getting too high with no signs of coming down. We were very tempted to give him a drop of insulin this a.m., but decided to let him try and work it out since he was still blue. So, naturally, at +3, he throws out a yellow. I think he's waving the white flag.

It's likely we'll need to call off the trial and give him insulin tonight. We'll get a couple spot checks today to see if we can catch a drop, but it seems that he's just going up. Bummer. On the bright side, maybe we'll claim the Most OTJ Trials record on FMDB.

Re: 8/4 Johnny AMBG 195 +3(245) - Likely shoot tonight

Wow.
You sure he doesn't have a stash of cookies somewhere?

Aww sorry Janice, this sucks.

Not anyone's fault thou! But I really wish Johnny could talk! LOL!

I wish he could talk too! Maybe he'd tell me where the cookie stash is. Ha! That's an interesting thought. If your cat could talk, what would be the first thing you'd ask him? Very deep.

Johnny is close and if you are going to have the record for something it may as well be for the most trials!

Re: 8/4 Johnny AMBG 195 +3(245) +4(234) +5.5(247) +7(214)

he's coming down some, that's good.

You might have to just decide to shoot him "as needed" for a while. Pick a number and when he gets above it, give a shot. A drop of insulin can last him for days, it seems, so I don't think you really need to worry about what time it is when you give a shot (because you don't need to worry about a 12/12 schedule, just give insulin when you catch a number high enough).

Very true, Carrie.

Libby, I like the sound of that. Brian was thinking 200 and up, since he has big drops after getting the drop. We can go a little lower if you think that's better. Let me know. Thanks for the thought.

Also, re: shot time not being a factor (cool!)...what about dropping/falling numbers? Any destinction? Like Johnny is coming down a little today, but would it be bad to shoot in the next couple of hours if he's still above 200? But maybe below his last BG level? It seems by his numbers in the last 24 hours that he's not heading low anytime soon, but thought I'd check to make sure we understand.

Re: 8/4 Johnny AMBG 195 +3(245) +4(234) +5.5(247) +7(214)

200 sounds good for now. We might be able to tighten it up later. I think that if he is 150 or 180 and clearly rising, that could be shootable too. We can fine tune as we go along.

I don't think there is any problem with shooting today, even though he has dropped a little bit. He's still high enough.

Hey Johnny what happen did you fall off that surf board you hit a big wave...That ok bud get back on your board now and let get to surfing ok Kath

197 PMBG. Didn't feel quite ready to shoot knowing that he seems to dip lower at night with insulin than the daytime. Not to mention, we're more able to test throughout and boost him up. If he's above 200 tomorrow a.m., we'll shoot the drop. Thanks for all the support today!
