06/06 Rhinog amps 398 +6~344 +8~362 pmps~322 Dose increase?

Hi,

Well we're back from a weeks holiday and Rhinog has been staying with my mother and father in-law. They've been great at testing and shooting and I think Rhinog has been really spoilt (fuss not food!). I'm not sure how much he enjoyed being taken for a walk around their garden on a lead!

Our spreadsheet is lacking in data. I didn't think it was fair to ask them to test more than twice a day. Today we will try to get more tests in and definately a test for ketones.

Rhinog's numbers seem to be creeping up. He's drinking a lot. Would 1unit be too much of a jump? Or should we try 0.75 first?
I won't increase until Tuesday as I'm at work all day Monday so can't be about to test.

Generally, we go up in 0.25unit increments. I'd be inclined to try 0.75u this evening... maybe someone else can chime in?

it's always a little tricky to increase when there are few spot checks, though I understand why there are few spot checks and I understand why you want to go ahead and increase.

Here are the options I see:

1) wait until Tuesday to increase and grab as many spot checks as you can before then, to be sure Rhinog isn't dropping somewhere during the cycle that we haven't seen (the red numbers *could* be bounces off of some lower number).

or

2) go ahead and increase and monitor a little extra the next couple of days just in case he has been dropping already and the increase is too much.

Remember that in most cats, dose increases take a few cycles to kick in. It's nice to increase when you're home, I usually do, but really it's more important that you'll be able to monitor a couple of days after the increase rather than on the day of the increase. You don't have to be available to monitor 24/7, but at least to get a few spot checks during the cycle.

I've stuck with 0.5units for now. Today's curve has just confused me even more. Could Rhinog be bouncing? He went back up to pink so quickly and then back down slightly on his own. :?

I know there's probably not enough data to be able to tell but if anyone could have a look at his sheet I'd be very grateful.
It's probably just the prednsiolone? (2.5mg bd)

I think you are seeing an early and then Rhinog's numbers are coming back up. I think it might be helpful to get a +11 if you can. It will let you know if numbers are already on their way down which may be why you are seeing an early drop. Alternatively, Rhinog may have an early nadir.
