Okay, confession! I cheated this a.m. Her first test was a 402. Really? I mean REALLY? 402? I prayed and prayed and PRAYED for a pink preshot this a.m. and we are 3 points shy?!?!? ohmygod_smile So...I tested again! :lol: 390. Much better! :mrgreen:

Im still perplexed as to WHY she has to drop so much before the insulin supposably sets in?!?! That 100+ point drop is just depressing, because we all know where its going to lead. :YMSIGH: It never ends. Up/Down/Up/Down This, by the way was with karo in her food after +1. She had eaten approx 1/2 can wellness by +2.

She certainly has been in rare form this a.m. She walked into the kitchen with me when I was getting her shot ready and laid in the middle of the floor. I was willing to be 15 min late on shot if she wanted to eat first, since that was probably why she was in the kitchen (its rare she does this). Of course as soon as I put it down she did that...stand 6-12 inches from the bowl and see how long we can make our neck....can we reach far enough to sniff it without it attacking! :roll: She acts like she is scared of it. It makes me laugh because its just so silly! Of course she didnt eat. So onward to shot and pills. She gets a little mad with the pilling, so I gave her 20 minutes to cool off on her *new* rug in the bathroom (seriously did not get it for her...apparently SHE thought so :roll: ). When I shook her treats for another shot of the food she sat a few feet away and watched me crumble the treat. I could see her wheels turning..."uhhhh, two mom. you give me two treats before I start eating". So I put another on. And she just sits there. Now you know what she is thinking...."three mom. I get three today". So yes, another one it is. And this goes on until FIVE treats are sprinkled on her food, in which she walks over very content with the results and starts gobbling it up. :roll: does she not realize these treats are like $6/bag?!?! ohmygod_smile

Of course she also has a nose that can smell ice cream, yogurt, and milk 1,000 miles away. The yogurt with my bfast this a.m. was a sure way to get her out of the bathroom, and off the NEW rug. I dont usually share with her anymore because Im unsure of the sugar, but I did this morning. Few licks off my fingers. :mrgreen: When she was done licking and begging, she waddled back to the bathroom. She got what she wanted! :lol:

Its good to see a little bit of her spirit and personality this a.m. It doesnt happen too often lately.

She is still eating karo spiked food...the bounce will be enough from the drop. Now she's gonna add to it by possibly going blue.

Well, I suppose on the positive side of things she is possibly trying to show us what this dose can do for her before I decide to increase. :roll:

Wow, Carolyn, I read yesterday's post about the little boy. That must have brought chills down your spine. It looks like Latte is tired of surfing the pinks and wants to surf the yellows today. She seems to be doing better and better - I am so glad for you. Sounds like she really likes the Lev. I hope the rest of your staycation is enjoyable. Have a great Saturday!

I think she is looking good today. If she can stay steady and surf the 200's that is sure better than the past right? Wow, what the diva she can be. I love it!!! :lol: At this point she deserves it!!! I hope you both have a wonderful Saturday. Continue to enjoy your staycation!!!

I caught her eyeing the drawstring on a pair of pants I had hanging on the bathroom door. Uhhhh...the string has managed to make its way on the floor...pants still hanging! :lol:

I so want her to keep feeling good! Please Lord of the Reds, spare my little girl from ugliness you posses!

I WAS going to NOT test for a while. Then she got up and drank water, and cleaned her plate clean from bfast, and had a big poop, and went exploring behind her throne (dropping sign always), and...I couldnt help myself! Im glad I did. She is not. :?

This of course is the ONE day of my staycation that I have plans in 1.5hrs. My haircut!!!!!!
This is where she REALLY needs the surfing vines, in addition to prayers to the Lord of the Reds (big time!)

Look at what she just did on ONE unit of insulin!!!! ONE!!!!!!!!! Good Girl! cat_pet_icon
Though she could have taken some of those drops slower...I am very proud of her! :mrgreen:

Lev does have some differences from the Lantus that you are used to.

I'm just gonna throw this out there. Latte has so many issues that I could not possibly understand them or their interactions w/each other. What a complicated tightrope you two are walking. That said.... you've been Karo-ing her mainly because of her Lantus bounces, correct? Is her little bouncy body getting confused now on the Levemir? As long as she's eating well (like today, so far), can you pull the Karo?

Sounds like the 'princess' was back for you this am - and warms my heart to read it! attitude is awesome!

Hope she does a little late cycle drop for you. She always did on Lantus, and the nadir for Lev is supposed to be a bit later... I'm going to keep that thought until i see otherwise.

Late day nap for me now! (I love drizzly chilly days and I can feel guilt free for napping!) Hope you 2 are doing likewise...but not on the bathroom floor. The bed is good, too Latte! ohmygod_smile

not a wonked reading. Took it twice. The 171 was not either...did that twice.
She is not going to drop later in the cycle...she just started bouncing, silly girl. :roll: She's most certainly in the REDs, just by observing her behavior since I got back home. Drinking excessively, choking on it...you know the drill. She gets pretty lethargic as she hits the 500's, so I dont think we are there yet. Anything HI and she looks seriously ill. No need to test these numbers...I through the meter off the balcony, anyway...and its raining.

She took that 100pt drop in an hour after finishing food with karo in it (litte less than 1/4 tsp in 1 3oz can food). It is meant to slow the drops down. Because, well as youve seen if Im not on top of it 24/7 she can drop 300+ pts in an hour or two. I really dont see food spikes off her, except the kibble. I dont always use the karo...only when suspecting big drops, low numbers, or if she is not eating much (extra bang for her buck). I dunno if there is a right or wrong answer anymore.

At any rate...I stopped off and got some ketostix on my way home. I will test once a day, as im guessing knowing exactly when they start developing is going to be the best way for me to prevent further suffering.

A great effort was put in by all this week. Me, Latte, Jill, Libby, all of you as our cheerleaders, Amy as my sounding board, and MJ for helping us get started on a more promising insulin. I mean, seriously. Her ss was well studied, sleep was deprived, and ears are sore. Thank you SOOOO SOOOO MUCH! But we have certainly come full circle, as I return to work on Monday with no control over how much/little she eats, when she eats, not knowing how fast/far she is dropping, No ability to see when her bounces are about to clear, and try to soften them. She is on her own. And we all saw how well thats worked in the last month and a half. Boing! Boing! Surf High for days. Boing Boing Surf High for days.

Im glad I had my girl back for a few hours today. The difference is like night and day. I hope to catch a few more glimpses of her feeling good enough to be herself. She really is wonderful.

You know, I should add...Im not 'giving up'. But Im flat out of ideas as to what more I can do to help her. If I increase she bounces harder and longer. If I decrease, she sits high and flat. either way she is high the majority of the time, which is dangerous for her. all emotions aside, thats just the reality of her situation.

((((Carolyn)))) I know it's hard for you to see, but I see improvement in Latte's SS (and a LOT of improvement in her WCR) since you started Lev. She's been surfing pink/yellow for 36 hours, which is high but it's better than spending hours in red/black. Her drops aren't nearly as sharp either. I don't think she's all the way there, of course, but I think she's going in the right direction overall. I'll keep her SS on my screen for a while, sometimes I see more when I go back to them in between other kitties' spreadsheets.
