Alex had a very nice day yesterday. As a matter of fact, probably the nicest day he's had in a pretty long time. Maybe one of the heart meds he's on is making him feel good but whatever it is I haven't seen him roll on his back and just lie like that for quite some time. He was happy. Yeah, that's the word  Which freed me up to spend a little more time time with Jackson who I thought might be developing hearing problems but yes, Kathy, I think you were right...he just didn't want to hear me  But we made up and he's happy today too.

Nothing like too happy kitties (well, unless you have three or four)!

Alex is doing good today except for some early AM pukus (not a little...blecchh). Maybe from one of the heart meds as well. He ate his usual very big breffis and is now taking is morning snooze. (I must sound like a broken record)

All p's are in order(can I add a 6th p for pukus)? and when he wakes up i'm asking Alex to job hunt for me..I have a doctor appointment.

Oh yeah..paranoia, I test Jackson every month..genetics and all and every month he's tested around 64-74 fasting. I thought he's been a little too hungry and thirsty so yesterday I tested him AFTER breffis and he was 113. Then again 8 hrs later and he was 98. This morning, fasting, he was 106...is this to worry? I realize he won't be put on insulin for this number..or will he nailbite_smile

(yes I will tell vet all of this too)

Oh SHUT UP, Caryl

Have a nice day everyone!

yesterday

morning Pat!

Normal as I see it on Alex's last blood tests is 64-170 so he definitely falls in there but it's a jump from 64..ya' know?

I had terrible/horrible bad dreams last night so out came the meter again today. Carolyn said she wants to take it away from me :?

Re: 4/19 Alex AMBB 104

 I'm sure Jackson is just fine Caryl--and I agree, put the meter away! Actually, maybe he's a little stressed with everything going on with Alex? I'm sure they know how to communicate what is going on between them. He's still in the normal range, so I doubt any vet would want you to give him some insulin. I really don't think 113 is bad for after food, is it?

Glad to hear that Alex is happy, and he's looking good with his barely blue amps! :-D

here look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetes_in_cats

scroll about halfway down the page, until you get to the chart.

40-130 Non-diabetic range (usually unsafe to aim for when on insulin, unless your control is very good). These numbers, when not giving insulin, are very good news.

Oh thankies!

meanwhile back at the looney bin..I think I may have given a fur shot angry(2)_cat

When i was filling Syringe, Sir Alex jumped on counter cause he saw the FF can that his and Jackson's
snack was coming from and knocked it all over the floor. I started to pick food off the floor and then thought 'the heck with it '
and let him have it.
Gave him his shot and then felt that my finger was wet.

Don't know if it's wet from food or insulin but it smelled like Lantus
(but I always smell like Lantus after handling it....)
<sigh> OH Alex....

ETA: actually the 3rd number down was average non-diabetic cat range 64-130

Re: 4/19 Alex AMBB 104

So good to hear Alex seems to be feeling better. He was obviously feeling well enough to make a mess this morning so that's a great sign! Glad Jackson has forgiven you and made up with you. Hope you guys have a great day. Don't worry about the fur shot - it happens! I gave one to Logan the other day and guess what?! His numbers were the same as usual. We wonder if his numbers would change if we stopped giving him insulin! They haven't moved, at all, and we're at 7.5 units.

I don't think you should try that Kelly nailbite_smile

(I KNOW you're just kidding)

Re: 4/19 Alex AMBB 104,+3.5-116

Message to Carolyn: Take Caryl's monitor away! I'm just guessing here, but perhaps Jackson's hearing would improve quickly if he heard more cans opening and fewer monitors beeping.

We all suffer from cases of heightened awareness, don't we? I think we beans need to hear the sound of more wine corks uncorking. :YMHUG:

Re: 4/19 Alex AMBB 104,+3.5-116

OOh, I'm with Kathy! Mamabeans need some good wine every now and then (and you should never drink and test!)!
