Sorry to hear he is still having problems. Try putting "Breathing ?" in the subject and also post in health. Maybe some one will see it that has some ideas.

Thanks Ann. Alex is going to vet today. I think we'll be getting him an ultrasound

I'm glad you're going back to the vet. Breathing problems are nothing to mess around with, and it's scary. When my Mickey started coughing often, they did an x-ray, ultrasound, and I think an echo. I believe those are the first things to look at to see if his heart/lungs are ok.

Thanks Libby,

I already know that Alex has a pretty bad murmur so I'm quite sure it's not okay. My vet put Alex on Enalapril today (a small dose to start to see if that will alleviate his panting) and next week he will work on the tests.

I'm sorry that I really can't go on much about this or post on boards but it all happened so suddenly that I kind of feel like a knife was stuck into my core and my heart and my guts are just hanging out raw and exposed. If I talk about this too much I won't be able to deal with it.
Since Alex was diagnosed with diabetes it's been one thing after another for him and I can't stand feeling so helpless.

I really wanted to explain why I'm not posting.

Caryl....we ALL understand if you can't post. Just know that we are wishing you well...and hoping that Alex will be okay. Post when you feel up to it. This is a very difficult time for you and the postings should not worry you at all. Sending lots of HUGS to you and Alex.... :YMHUG:

Enalapril is what Mickey is on now, at least when I can get it into him. He has an enlarged heart, thickened heart wall, and some fluid in his lungs. Even though I was heartbroken to see the pictures of his heart, in some ways it made me feel better because now I know what I'm dealing with. I hope you'll feel the same.

FYI, I do understand, Mickey's dx is one reason I'm not posting as much either. It's emotionally exhausting to worry about our little ones.
