Re: 187 PMPS, +2--86, +2.5--58, +2.75--83
There have been some problems with the Board. In case it locks up, please print out the instructions in this link. It is a step-by-step guide to
handling low numbers.
You're doing fine with steering the numbers. The idea is that you test, if numbers are dropping, feed a teaspoon or two of food -- HC if necessary. Repeat the process every 30 min. until you see that the numbers are stable or rising for two consecutive tests. Then repeat in an hour.
You need to be aware that as the HC wears off, numbers may wobble around or drop again. Simon's not in any danger -- the 50s are a safe range it just doesn't give you a large margin.
As for making a mistake, you didn't! Many of us who use Lantus shoot far lower numbers than a 187. It's scary the first time. We also don't have any data to look at in order to lend you a bigger hand. So, for now, your glucometer is your best friend. As long as you have your meter, strips, and food, you're in control of the cycle.
If Simon is refusing Karo, you can use any syrup -- maple syrup, honey, etc. -- if you need to. He may do just fine with the gravy from HC food. In fact, given that he's in the 80s, gravy will be fine.
