I just picked up some Friskies pate style foods to try on Poopy (he's been basically flat on his cycles and figured changing food was worth a try) and noticed all three flavors have rice as an ingredient. True, rice isn't listed until 6th or 7th but I thought any grains were just added carbs. :?:

Binky and Janet's list (which I know hasn't been updated in a while and manufacturers are known to change formulas at whim) have them at 7-8% carbs.

The flavors? Mixed Grill, Supreme Supper, and Turkey & Giblets Dinner.

Has anyone else feeding Friskies noticed rice on the ingredients?

In my back up food stash I have a can each of the Beef & Chicken Entree and the Ocean Whitefish and both of those have brewers rice.

Guess I'll give it a try. Worse thing that can happen is Poopy's numbers are higher than usual (not uncommon right now anyway).

Thanks!

I think that's why they're ~6 carbs (even turkey, which is 0 in some brands). My boys eat friskees.

When Maui was on insulin, I mainly fed her the turkey & giblets, yes single flavor only and the rice didn't seem to affect her BG's.

Of course, she won't touch friskies at all now, so I'm back to using fancy feast and raw food.
