lantus, loss of appetite, remission?

My diabetic cat was switched to lantus and worked well for awhile, but went low and now won't eat and losing wt. Went off of lantus a month ago after it lost his appetite, but still no change. Blood test turned out good except low white blood count. Kidney and Liver functions good. We have checked for all diseases and did ultrasound. Pancreas a little enlarged, which Vet said is common in diabetic cats. Glucose around 124 to 153. Gave him appetite stimulant that work a little for 2 days and a long term antibiotic shot. Tried all different foods. I don't know what to do for him. Is this common in diabetic cats. He is a stray so I do not know his age. Been with me almost 2 years. Diagnosed 1 year ago as diabetic. Help.

Are you home testing or are the numbers 124 and 153 from the vet tests? If you are not testing him at home, can you pick up a meter and test strips at the pharmacy? You need to know what his blood glucose is and he may well need to be getting insulin.
What did the vet say about the low white blood count?
Did your vet test for pancreatitis?
Why did you stop giving insulin? I don't think those numbers are low enough to be off insulin.
How are his teeth? Was his urine tested by the vet for infection?
If he is not eating, he is going to get sick; can you talk to the vet about getting more of the appetite stimulant to give him?
What was the name of the long lasting antibiotic the vet gave?
 
Cat was testing 54 at vets when he first started not eating. That was 8 hours after his shot. I can't get this cat to sit on my lap, let alone sit sill for ear testing. Though, I have not tried. The appetite stimulant worked a little...he still would go over and lick food and eat little...he just kept coming back for more. Not sure what antibiotic they gave him. Does it make a difference? She gave me the lab results from the blood work and only thing low was white blood count and HCT. Not sure what the HCT stands for. Was borderline low/normal range. He eating problem started after he had been on lantus for a few months...though the lantus was getting his insulin under control. His teeth look ok...older.
 
Vet said low bloom count usually means fighting something, though no fever. No masses on ultrasound though pancreas was enlarged. Vet said that was due to being a diabetic. Not sure how long he had it before he starting living under our bay window. Only have had him for 2 yrs.

Low HCT = low hematocrit a measure of red blood cells. These cary oxygen.

"Pancrease a little enlarged" - could be pancreatitis, a painful condition which may prompt vomiting and inappetance. Many of us have used quarter tablets of regular Pepcid 1 -2 times a day to help our cats with upset stomachs - discuss doing that with your vet and ask about maybe trying empirical treatment with some fluids and pain meds too.
