AMPS - 213
shot 1.1
she spent the day at the vet ( I will tell that later )
they gave her a lasics ( not sure of the spelling? ) injection
PMPS - 600

What the heck do I shoot?

I would be conservative, Barbara. She is stressed from the vet - maybe they fed her something. I wanted to answer fast, so haven't looked at your ss. I would do whatever you have been giving - or maybe a few drops more.

Thanks Sue! I had dropped to 1.1 cause Robin say it looked like an inverse curve yesterday. I shot 1.1 into 344 last night & she was lower this morning so that was the right thing to do I guess. So stick with 1.1? BRB...going to feed them.

I know I'm not the knight in shining armor you were hoping would reply!

You have to figure that 600 is stress induced. I hope someone else will reply, but if Thumper was my cat and I had to make the decision, I would increase a tad-- but, not a lot.

Remember--Better too high for a day then too low for a moment.

I have a problem. She was walking when we got home & drank some water. I had to go back out when I came back she was on the couch. She didn't get up like usual when I got her food out so I carried her over. She couldn't stand. She finally got her bearings & walked over to a little bed...sat in it & peed a little then walked off. She got back up on the couch & ate a dried turkey treat. I don't know what to do. He said the lasics wouldn't effect diabetes?

Are you still here Sue? Did you see my last post? I don't know what to do.

Can I just leave her for a bit to see what she does with BG that high?

I am here, but not sure what to advise. The 600 is high but certainly could be mainly stress. Can you call the vet and describe what is happening and ask for advice?

They are closed so I would have to call the emergency vet....can guarantee they will say bring her in. I wonder how much they really know.

So is the lasic because she has a heart condition? Maybe if you say tell the ER what the vet gave and her reactions right now, and say you are worried that the stress of an ER visit could make things worse, they will give you some ideas?

Suspected heart condition. Her blood pressure was high so he gave me a prescription for med. but I didn't get it filled yet. He said she could also go on a pill for the fluid around her heart...this was a trial to see if it would help. The cardiologist wants to do an echo cardiogram but I probably can't get in there for a week. They also sent blood out testing for Hyper T.

I cab't copy & paste from my phone-- someone cross post this on health for her

Certainly not ideal. I don't know anything about high blood pressure and lasic. I agree - post on Health while waiting to hear from ER vet or go to ER. I don't like her weakness plus high bg and no interest in food. So many factors all at once.

I posted on Health for you, but there are not very many people on that board either. I think I would head to the ER. At least maybe they can stablize her and figure out what combo of things are impacting her.

They said the lasics should not cause the stumbling & no intrest in food...just get rid of excess fluid. They said bring her in. Guess I'm going.

Call the ER

If you have no one to call-- there is a vet tech with me now-- you want to talk to her?

If you are going def. Take the insulin-- do you want to call me & talk to her? If so I will pm you my #

the words heart condition and stumbling are never good so yes, if there's a suspected heart condition and she is wetting herself and/or stumbling, i say definitely ER.

with my little heart baby, the cardiologist told me that if he ever couldn't walk, ER right away

edited to add: i don't think the lasix messes with the diabetes so much as if there's a heart problem, if she's uncomfortable, the BG's would rise from the uncomfortable-ness

kim, does that mean your tech thought she needed to go too?
i'm here at work for another hour or so so will keep an eye out for an update

I'm no vet and no expert, but I'd get her blood pressure checked and have them check electrolytes at the ER too. High BP can lead to stroke, and a small stroke could make a kitty seem off like yours is. Also low potassium can do that. If the Lasix was prescribed without actually knowing there was fluid around the heart or chest my concern is electrolytes being flushed out of the system, low potassium can lead to stumbling and lethargy.

This is definitely and ER situation, glad you are going.

When my Sadie(GA) was on Lasix, she was very hard to regulate. I don't think it was the lasix so much as the discomfort from all the fluid build up she had. For a bit we did shoot TID, but then went to PZI with a booster of another insulin with her shots to bring her BGs down.

I hope Thumper is okay.

Prayers for Barb and Thumper from the Fur Gang and I.

Hope everything turns out okay. Could someone please update us over on Health, as we may miss it here.

Barbara and Thumper - sending healing energy and light your way and hope that they can figure out what's going on so she can come home soon.

:YMHUG:

So ironic, Harley and I just got home from our cardiology appointment and his heart has a clean bill of health, except for a gallop heart rhythm.
